2009 Majestic Award

Seven years ago, a new award was put into place to join the others that have now become an important tradition at Mercer Raceway Park….The Majestic.

Look up the word majestic in the dictionary and you’ll find the following description: grand, noble, and dignified.  This year’s recipients are a husband-wife team that have been an important part of Mercer Raceway Park over the past decade.

The lady in reality has never been a race fan, to be perfectly honest, she hated it, or should we say, disliked it very much!  In fact, throughout her ex-husband’s 30-year run of being a car owner, she probably attended less than 5 events.  Her favorite saying for decades was “That damn race car! 

Her current husband however kinda liked racing and has been very efficiently running our pit shack for years.

But, you know what they say—“The things you do for your kids!” and as you can imagine their Saturday nights have never been the same!

No more weekend dinner dates with old friends, no more falling asleep in the chair before the 11 o’clock news…nope- things were going to change!  

Well regardless, the point is, they’ve always been there for their girls! —

We think Ruth actually recognizes most of your names and Dave, well he’s never passed up a beer after the races from Frank and Wayne’s stash.  He even made it a point to venture out on a bad winter day to attend their Christmas bash in the tool shed!   

The point is tonight we want to make sure that they know how much they have been appreciated!
