The first award has been put in place to recognize outstanding achievements or accomplishment throughout the past season.
Fairy tales really do happen you know…if you don’t believe me, just step back in time to the third weekend of June 2003. We’ve already spoken about how special the bond between a father and son can be, but special moments in our lives can reinforce and strengthen these ties.
On Friday night, June 20 at Lernerville Speedway, Mike Shearer began a weekend that will forever be etched in the memory of him and his family. After four years of trying, Mike decisively won his first career feature over a strong field of western Pennsylvania sprint car competitors. That in itself would have been a cherished memory, but less than 24 hours later, sweet victory revisited the Shearer racing team at Mercer Raceway Park.
If you were lucky enough to witness this driver achieve back-to-back wins, you will never forget the most profound moment as an emotional father joined his son in victory lane. You see, through all the highs and lows that the Shearer Family had been through during the previous four years, Billy Shearer, a father, always believed in his son.
Remember what we said, fairy tales really do come true, and once in a while on a warm summer night at any short track across America, you might be lucky enough to witness one. We certainly did…wouldn’t you agree Billy?
Would Mike & Billy Shearer along mom Mindy please come forward to accept our third and final Outstanding Achievement Award?
