2000 Living Legend

Perhaps the most special award we present is dedicated to those individuals who have  truly becoming living legends through their grand performances, and the lasting impressions they have left us all at Mercer Raceway Park throughout the years. 

    The inaugural recipient of the “Living Legend” Award was Buddy Cochran…need I say more.  As we close the history books on the first 50 years at Mercer Raceway Park, it seems only fitting that we recognize the individual who will be remembered as the winningist driver ever to compete at the speedway. 

     It is believed that he captured over 150 feature events, countless track championships, and created hundreds of memories that have formed the foundation and traditions of Mercer Raceway Park.
