2003 Horizon Award

Shining brightly in the distance is the horizon- a spectacle that can make you mysteriously continue to look forward into the distance.  Our Horizon Award was put into place to recognize drivers, whose careers shine as brightly as the sun on the horizon.  Past winners of this award are Don McKnight, Matt Lux, Brian Woodhall, and Chad Reitz- an impressive group of talented, young racers.

Young blood of course is one of the most important elements in the makeup of our Horizon Award.  No race track can survive into the future without a strong contingent of young lions.  They add color and excitement to our program each and every Saturday night and it is truly an honor to watch them grow and develop into some of the region’s toughest competitors.

There is no doubt that this year’s Horizon Award winner certainly came into his own during the 2003 season.  Starting his career at the tender age of just 16, this teenager showed steady improvement his first three seasons coming close, but never tasting victory lane.

Those in the know realized 2003 would be this racer’s breakout season, and in just seven short weeks he pulled into victory lane after a dominating performance.  The stage was then set for three additional wins, all of which brought the crowd to their feet with last lap passes.  This young driver then finished the year with an incredible seven straight top two finishes.

Sure to be threat for the 2004 Sportsman Modified Championship, I introduce you to our own “Little E” and the 2003 Horizon Award winner, Mr. Andy Paden.
