2004 Majestic Award

Three years ago, a new award was put into place to join the others that have now become an important tradition at Mercer Raceway Park….The Majestic.

Look up the word majestic in the dictionary and you will find the following description: grand, noble, dignified.  The person we choose to honor tonight with this special award truly displays grand, noble, and dignified gestures each and every Saturday night at Mercer Raceway Park.     The two people we choose to honor tonight with this special award are two of the most loyal and dedicated people at the track.

Some of you have known them forever, others probably just know them to see them, and some of you may not be familiar with them because you’re in the pits and they’re in the grandstands.  Their roots go back to the early days of the speedway and they’ve seemingly worked at the track forever.  Even their kids have worked in various capacities over the years at the speedway.

These two can be found with a smile on their faces and will give you a pleasant greeting when you enter the general admission gates.  Bob at his typical post at the main gate and Carol inside the ticket booth at the grandstand gate.  They rarely miss a night, although last summer Carol was unable to work a handful of nights due to some health issues and that’s why she is unable to be with us tonight.

It’s people like the McClays that don’t get recognized and sometimes are forgotten, but we wanted to take a moment and give them some recognition that they so deserve.

Bob please come forward on behalf of yourself and Carol to receive “The Majestic” Award.

The McClays will be receiving a beautiful pair of his and her watches inscribed with our thanks compliments of Kidd’s Jewelry.
