This year a new award will be put in place to join the others that have now become an important tradition at Mercer Raceway Park…. The Majestic.
Look up the word majestic in the dictionary and you will find the following description: grand, noble, dignified. The people we chose to honor with this special award tonight and into the future are those that have made grand, noble, and dignified gestures on behalf of Mercer Raceway Park and general.
We are extremely lucky to know that these type of people at any time can grace our presence at Mercer Raceway Park. Two people have been chosen as the inaugural recipients of The Majestic.
The next recipient of the inaugural Majestic Award is a family, rather than an individual. Over the past five years, a family has come together with Mercer Raceway Park to remember a well-known member of the racing fraternity.
It was their desire to have an event that would become one of the region’s most respected sprint car races, while at the same time honor their loved one. Never has one family worked so diligently to accomplish this goal.
It is estimated that over the past five years, this family has raised well over $12,000, which has been put directly into the purses of the annual Chuck Marsh Memorials. The majority of these monies have come through the sale of raffle tickets on a beautiful quilt that is actually sewn by the sisters of Chuck Marsh himself.
Our recipients are true examples and intricate parts of the racing family concept. Know that their efforts are greatly appreciated by the fans, competitors, and management of Mercer Raceway Park and we are honored to present the inaugural 2001 Majestic Award to the “Marsh Family”.
