2000 Horizon Award

     Last year, Mercer Raceway Park started a new tradition in award presentations.   “The Horizon” Award recognizes young, up and coming drivers whose new careers shine as brightly as the sun on the horizon. 

     This year’s recipient is no exception.  To overcome intimidation and achieve the highest accolades is to be commended.  This driver was truly intimidated by Mercer’s unique d-shaped oval, but went on to win the most stock car feature events during 2000. 

     To top off this impressive record, he also stole the crown of the inaugural Little Guy Nationals, an event he had set his heart on winning, coming through the consy and from near the rear of the feature lineup. 

     I present to you the 2000 “Horizon” Award winner…Matt Lux.
