2008 Outstanding Achievement Award

The next award has been put in place to recognize outstanding achievements or accomplishments throughout the past season.

Tonight’s Outstanding Achievement Award winner grew up just up the road from the speedway.  His grandfather instilled in him a love of racing and would take him each and every Saturday night to the races.

We wonder what went through his mind as he snuck down to the speedway during the week and rode his bicycle on the dirt oval where he would someday carve his name in the history book of Mercer Raceway Park?

Did he fathom he would win 19 features in his young career including the prestigious Bill Emig Memorial, Jeff Hoffman Memorial, and two Little Guy National victories in the ultra-competitive 358 Modifieds along with a FASTRAK Touring Series event in his first year of Late Model competition.

He is the only driver to win in 5 different divisions at Mercer Raceway Park, those being Big-Block Modifieds, Six-Cylinder Modifieds, Sportsman Modifieds, 358 Modifieds, and most recently the FASTRAK Late Models.

The above accomplishments alone would warrant an Outstanding Achievement Award in itself, but this year he grabbed the crown jewel and became the first driver in 28 years since the legendary Ralph Quarterson to win track championships in two different divisions in the same season…358 Modifieds and FASTRAK Late Models.

Frankie pedaling as fast as he could on his bicycle, Frankie wild and reckless through his early years, Frankie thrilling us with sparks flying off the rear quarter-panel as he races high on the rim, and finally Frankie matured, gaining respect, and becoming a veteran at his field of dreams!

Dreams really do come true and tonight we give you our 2008 Outstanding Achievement Award winner Frank Guidace.
