2003 Majestic Award

Two years ago, a new award was put into place to join the others that have now become an important tradition at Mercer Raceway Park….The Majestic.

Look up the word majestic in the dictionary and you will find the following description: grand, noble, dignified.  The person we choose to honor tonight with this special award truly displays grand, noble, and dignified gestures each and every Saturday night at Mercer Raceway Park.   

The recipient of this year’s “Majestic” award holds a very specific and important position, but it is not uncommon for him to be seen throughout the facility undertaking a multitude of necessary tasks before the gates officially open.

His official title is ‘Head of Security’ and some of the jobs that make up his position include the following…organizing his staff, controlling what could possibly turn into uncontrollable situations, overseeing VIP and pit parking, assisting medical staff during emergency situations, and officially documenting each and every security incident that occurs at The Park.

Professionally handling the above details would be more than any employer could ask of this person, but when you take into account that this gentlemen also takes it upon himself to do a few extra and thankless jobs such as…are you ready?...

Helping to answer the phones as the ring uncontrollably on a rainy afternoon, assisting Jody to ready her concessions, checking the radios, repairing the phones, testing the sound system, lining the parking areas, picking up the elderly neighbor lady who allows us to use her field for parking, and finally helping Frank with any last minute details.  These tasks done out of the goodness of his heart, and are crucial to the smooth operation of the speedway. 

We hope that from now on when you see this man on his four-wheeler with the familiar flashing blue light, you will have a greater sense of appreciation...as he has given countless hours of dedication to Mercer Raceway Park over the past five years.
