2000 Legacy Award
The “Legacy” Award is dedicated to the legacy of Bill Emig and his love of racing that he left us all. He would have been truly proud to know that Bob Felmlee’s 100th and final sprint car win and Jimmy Hawley’s tri-track sprint car championships in 1999 are moments that will be forever remembered as taking place at what is now his legacy, Mercer Raceway Park.
This year’s exceptional moment to remember is truly deserving of this special award. On July 15, when modified superstars Brett Hearn, Billy Decker, Billy Pauch, Jack Johnson, to only name a few, arrived at Mercer Raceway Park, a showdown had already formed in the minds of thousands of regional fans.
In their hearts they knew that if there was ever a time for our modifieds stars to shine, it would be in our own backyard at Mercer Raceway Park. A heart stopping, next-to-the-last lap pass on Billy Decker forged Lou Blaney into victory lane, and into the memories of all who were present.
Your 2000 “Legacy” Award winner…Lou Blaney.
