Outstanding Achievement

These next awards have been put in place to recognize outstanding achievements or accomplishment throughout the past season.  Tonight three individuals will be receiving these awards.

The first “Outstanding Achievement” Award goes to a driver that was relative unknown to many when he began racing at Mercer in 2004.

A former winner in the stocks and e-mods, this Harmony, Pa. racer moved into the Sportsman Modified ranks in 2004 driving for the O’Rock Family.  Quietly he raced to a heat win, 2 top 5s, and 6 top 10s including his best finish to date- a 3rd in the season ender on his way to respectable 10th place point finish.

With the merging of the sportsman and big blocks into the competitive 358 class in 2005, I doubt too many people would have predicted that this driver would have finished third in points and put up the numbers that he did.

Speaking of those numbers; he never finished worse than 11th during the regular season.  On June 25 and July 30 he finished 2nd for his best ever finishes at Mercer.  On numerous nights he challenged for the win, but just seemed to come up shy or would be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Mike Anderson’s 2005 stats improved to 3 heat wins, 3 top 5s, and 14 top 10s.  He ended the season by qualifying for his second straight “Little Guy Nationals” feature in the tough T3 Series, which turned out to be his worst finish of the year in 19th.

I’m sure Mike’s first win is right around the corner.  Mike…Please come forward to receive your Outstanding Achievement Award.
